CAFETIERE A SIPHON à balancier en procelaine polychrome décor de guirlande fleurie sur fond blanc et bleu à filet or et verre à guirlande fleurie or et métal, reposant sur une base rectangulaire en porcelaine blanche à décor doré
CAFETIERE A SIPHON with a polychrome porcelain pendulum decorated with a flowery garland on a white and blue background with gold net and gold and metal flowery garland glass, resting on a rectangular base in white porcelain with gold decoration Second half of the 19th century H: 36 cm - W: 21 cm - D: 11 cm (cracks and crashes) Historical: This siphon coffee maker system originated in Berlin around 1830. Patents are added to this innovation, including those of Napier in 1840, Louis Gabet in 1844 and Turmel in 1853. Two receptacles are placed side by side: one glass for coffee, the other ceramic for water with an alcohol lamp underneath. The heated water passes through the tube and mixes with the coffee. Once the point of equilipe is reached, the lamp is switched off by a counterweight or spring mechanism. The coffee is then siphoned off by the vacuum created and returns to the first container. It is then dispensed through a tap. Very fashionable in Parisian circles, this siphon coffee maker system inspired models up to the Bahaus era.
