DAVID D'ANGERS, Cast bronze depicting the poetess Marceline Desbordes-Valmores in profile on the right, identified by her name on the medal. The sculptor and medallist spoke of Madame Valmore as follows: "Nothing compares to this woman, her face is ugly and yet she is admirable, I am ashamed when I look at the medallion I made of her". Our modern copy is signed and dated 1832. Traces of oxidation, white concretions and strike corner mark on the signature.
